Window Seats

I really miss flying. I miss the destinations, too, of course, but I’ve always loved just getting on a plane.

Ever since I was a kid I’ve had my head glued to the window. Cheesy as they are, here are a few of my favorite window seat photos.

Looking back at a runway from a plane

Looking back at the tiny airport on Vieques.

SFO>JFK: A view of a desert landscape and a purple colored lake

A purple lake somewhere over Nevada or Utah—any guesses? I haven’t figured it out yet.

A view of several fishing boats just off a coastline

Just off the coast of Dakar, landing for a refuel on the way to Johannesburg.

The coast of Rio de Janeiro and the end of an airplane wing

Taking off from Rio. Here are the northern suburbs. This is one of those times where I wish I could have the window seat on both the left and right of the plane. just the other side would have been Corcovado, the Sugar Loaf, and Ipanema.

The propeller of an airplane and the view of a volcano below.

Oh, hi, volcano.

The wing of an airplane just after takeoff, with another plane taking off on the next runway

Parallel takeoffs at SFO.

An airplane wing going into the clouds, with a peek of a town visible through the clouds.

Taking off just before the fog sets in the Columbian mountain town of Manizales.

Many lakes, seen from above, with the reflection of a sunset

Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Looking down over the desert, with a river, dam, and a lake.

Lake Powell on the border of Arizona and Utah.

An airplane wing over an ocean, with a small raincloud below

A small raincloud over the Caribbean.

Mountains seen from an airplane window.

The mountainous desert in Oaxaca.

A peninsula with a fort seen from above

Old San Juan jutting out into the sea.

A landscape view with a snowy mountaintop in the distance

Snowcapped mountain in the distance taking off in Cappadocia.

A dessert landscape seen from above

When we were kids, we were down there in the sand at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.

Lower Manhattan, lit up at night, from above

As much as travel is the best, it is always feels great to land back in NYC.
